Paragraf has acquired a second manufacturing site that will be used to manufacture graphene-based electronic devices.
The site, located in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, U.K., is a 43,000 square foot facility that will more than double Paragraf’s production footprint. This includes a massive increase in the size of its clean room space and other manufacturing areas.
Paragraf staff will begin to move in during the first quarter of this year with production scheduled to ramp up in the second half of this year.
“The world is just beginning to realize the benefits that graphene-based electronics can bring to a wide range of applications from quantum computing through to electric vehicle power trains and there are massive opportunities for us to help alleviate global problems using graphene to, for example, reduce energy usage, boost product performance, improve safety, accelerate diagnosis in healthcare, and build next-generation advanced material semiconductor technologies,” said Simon Thomas, CEO of Paragraf.
The company’s first site was opened in 2018 and it is focusing on growing revenues from graphene-based magnetic field and current sensors. The company plans to raise additional funds as well to develop its future technology roadmap.
The acquisition of the second site shows the company is focusing on growing the local Cambridge area economy and hiring skilled workers in the area, Paragraf said in a statement. The factory will help to grow existing product lines as well as more space to develop future products.
