Intel Corp. and Lenovo are partnering for a multiyear collaboration focused on high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI). The joint effort will focus on creating new solutions for a data center that will accelerate the convergence of HPC and AI, the companies said.
The companies will focus on three main areas: systems and solutions, software optimization and ecosystem enablement.
For systems and solutions, the collaboration will bring together Lenovo’s technology with Intel’s Xe computing architecture, Intel’s persistent memory, programming framework and future generations of Intel Xeon scalable processors.
For software optimization, a key focus will be building out Lenovo’s smart software offerings and enabling DAOS advanced storage frameworks and other exascale-class software optimizations targeted at HPC and AI users.
Finally, in terms of ecosystem enablement, the partnership will help create a new ecosystem for convergence of HPC and AI. This will include building joint solutions so research and university centers can develop solutions for challenges such as genomics, cancer, weather and climate, space exploration and more.
