SiTime unveils new precision timekeeping IC

17 February 2023

SiTime Corp. has unveiled a precision timekeeping component that includes microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), analog and other system technologies.

Called the SiT7910, the IC is designed for ruggedized handheld radios, ground vehicles and sensors used in aerospace and defense applications. The devices will be used to acquire and lock to GPS signals more quickly and securely with 25 times more precision than previous generations.

According to SiTime, GPS modernization is a multibillion dollar, multi-year effort to upgrade the system with better features, performance and security. Precision timekeeping is essential in overcoming challenges including those in the harshest environmental conditions.

Features to the SiT7910 IC include:

  • 32.768 kHz frequency
  • ±0.2 ppm frequency stability over -55° C to 105° C temperature range
  • 20 ppb/g g-sensitivity for resilience in high-vibration environments
  • 6.0 µA low power consumption
  • ±5 ppm frequency aging over 20 years
  • 1.62 V to 3.63 V operating supply voltage range
  • Pb-free, RoHS, and REACH compliant
  • Endura enhanced screening flow for high quality and reliability
