Intel Corp. has opened what it claims is the “smartest building in the world” in Petach Tikva, Israel, an 800,000 sq ft, 11 story building scattered in eight buildings across five campuses.
The building, called PTK1, independently runs various systems and functions, accumulating data, processing it and using artificial intelligence (AI) to make decisions. The building has 14,000 sensors that control lighting, temperature, ventilation, parking, conference room availability and other building services and systems for innovation.
Intel said the PTK1 building produces 50 to 100 terabytes of data with no human intervention and processes it using AI to make decisions and adjust various systems based on different parameters.
The development center will host 2,000 employees working in the computing, communication, AI and cybersecurity fields.
This is the third such development center Intel has built in Israel joining those in Haifa and Jerusalem and a manufacturing site in Kirvat Gat.
