The contributions of renewable energy, particularly solar power, to U.S. energy supplies are expected to significantly increase in 2023. Nearly every state is implementing projects to produce new clean energy and the nation is set to secure over 80% of its new energy installations from sources such as batteries, solar and wind.
According to the U.S. Energy information Administration, the share of U.S. electricity generation from renewable sources is projected to rise from 22% in 2022 to 23% in 2023 and to 26% in 2024. The map seen above, based on data from the agency, highlights planned U.S. renewable energy and battery storage installations by state for 2023.

Texas is the leader in planned renewable energy installations and intends to power nearly 900,000 homes using new wind energy. California is second, which may be partially due to passage of Title 24, an energy code that requires new buildings to supply the equipment necessary to allow the easy installation of solar panels, battery storage and electric vehicle charging.
While New Hampshire is the only state that has no new utility-scale renewable energy installations planned for 2023, a massive hydroelectric scheme is expected to come online in 2024.
