Globalfoundries and Indie Semiconductor have introduced a new generation of customized microcontrollers on the pure play foundry’s 55 nm Low Power Extended (55LPx) platform designed for use in automotive and internet of things applications.
Indie’s Nigel products are based on the ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller core manufactured on Globalfoundries’ 55LPx process. The customized microcontroller is a single device with mixed-signal functionality for sensing, processing, controlling and communicating and integrates Silicon Storage Technology’s non-volatile flash memory.
The companies said the microcontrollers provide a path-to-product solution that includes silicon-qualified RF IP. The devices are in volume production on Globalfoundries 300 mm line in Singapore.
Indie is also developing other products based on the technology for further automotive applications. Process design kits and Globalfoundries’ silicon IP are available now.
