Scalable, Flexible AM/FM Receivers and Digital Radio Tuners for Automotive Infotainment

Silicon Labs has introduced scalable, flexible car radio devices targeted at the automotive infotainment market.

The Global Eagle and Dual Eagle AM/FM receivers and digital radio tuners and Digital Falcon coprocessors address all market segments, cost and performance levels in vehicles while meeting radio automotive grade standards.

The Global Eagle family, the Si495x, uses Silicon Labs’ patented low-IF digital architecture for RF performance and interference rejection. The Dual Eagle family, the Si479xx, uses firmware algorithms that adjust signal reception in moving cars to ensure optimal reception under hard field conditions.

The Digital Falcon family, the Si469x, of digital radio coprocessors, provides channel demodulation and source decoding of HD radio and DAB/DAB+ digital signals for audio and data. The processors simplify system design and minimize the bill of materials (BOM) by eliminating the need for external RAM memory modules for channel decoding required by third-party digital radio processors, Silicon Labs says.
