Silicon Labs Makes Internet of Things Grab with Zentri Acquisition

23 January 2017

Semiconductor vendor Silicon Labs has agreed to acquire cloud-connected Wi-Fi® provider Zentri, expanding Silicon Labs’ presence in the Internet of Things (IoT).

Zentri’s products are designed to accelerate time-to-market for IoT end node products, reducing the time to a matter of weeks across a wide range of industrial, commercial and consumer applications. Zentri provides a library of cloud-connected applications and removes the need for wireless design experience so designers can focus on differentiating their products, Silicon Labs says.

The cloud-based Wi-Fi® products will be added to Silicon Labs’ multiprotocol connectivity portfolio in order to extend a range of power-sensitive IoT end node applications, the company says.
