Watch: Dialog buys Atmel. Mercedes-Benz plans a $1.3bn investment. NASA app aims for better airliner routes.

U.K.-based power management chipmaker Dialog Semiconductor is buying Atmel for $4.6 billion in an all-cash and stock transaction. Mercedes-Benz plans to expand capacity at its Tuscaloosa, Ala., plant. Virgin America and Alaska Airlines will soon use a Traffic Aware Planner application to make what are known as traffic aware strategic aircrew requests. The Wi-Fi Alliance has a new membership category. The Asian Development Bank will double its annual climate financing to $6 billion by 2020, up from the current $3 billion.
