Watch: UPS buys electric trucks, Freescale Semi acquires CogniVue, TV shipments see a big decline

Global package delivery firm UPS says it is buying 125 hybrid electric delivery trucks. The trucks could achieve up to four times the fuel economy of a conventional vehicle. Freescale Semiconductor is expanding its automotive semiconductor portfolio for autonomous vehicles and advanced driver assistance systems by acquiring CogniVue. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Mitsubishi Heavy Industry has booked orders to build two liquified natural gas carriers. The ships will be used to transport shale gas produced primarily in North America from the Freeport LNG terminal to Japan. IHS Automotive cut its full year 2015 light vehicle sales forecast for China to 23.4 million units. This reflects a growth rate over 2014 of 1.4%. The growth outlook compares with a previous forecast from IHS of 4.4% year-over-year growth. After a year of quarterly year-over-year growth in 2014, global shipments of televisions suffered their biggest decline in more than five years during the second quarter.The 8% decline in the second quarter was the largest drop in shipments of TVs since the second quarter of 2009.
