US firm unveils world’s first AI-powered super-humanoid robot set to revolutionize industrial work

25 March 2025

The world’s first industrial super-humanoid robot has been developed by U.S.-based artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics firm Dexterity.

The robot, dubbed Mech, is outfitted with two arms on a rover that navigates warehouses and industrial spaces where it seamlessly takes on repetitive tasks.

“Mech has been engineered from the ground up to bring human skill and superhuman strength to industrial environments. Leveraging Dexterity’s advanced Physical AI makes tackling new tasks as simple as installing a new app,” explained the firm in a blog post.

Its developers noted that Mech’s dual arms feature a 5.4-meter arm span and it is capable of lifting up to 132 pounds of cargo like boxes, parcels and polybags, among other objects.

While mounted on its rover base — which contains a supercomputer, two vacuum pumps and an extensive sensor and safety system — Mech can spin, strafe, climb ramps and maneuver around workstations.

Further, Mech is designed to load towering stacks of boxes and accomplish jobs like truck loading, palletizing, depalletizing and unloading, with its vertical reach of more than 8 ft. Making it so productive is that Mech can complete tasks without shifting positions, its developers noted.

Additionally, Mech runs using Physical AI, which is powered by an onboard supercomputer that runs hundreds of AI models to handle complex industrial tasks, such as stacking irregularly shaped boxes, maneuvering within confined spaces and handling fragile packages.

The industrial robot senses its environment, recognizes objects and selects the most appropriate packaging techniques with help from its 16 cameras and it works consistently in temperatures between 32° F and 122° F.
