CES 2025 continues this week in Las Vegas and GlobalSpec was on site during the show to see the coolest and most interesting gadgets and gear from the world’s largest consumer electronics tradeshow.
AI was the largest trend happening on the floor with the technology being integrated into everything from vehicles to smartphones to industrial processing to home automation to appliances. And not surprisingly, most of the best gadgets found on the show floor had some semblance of AI either integrated or used for enhancement.
1) OpenMeet headset
Designed specifically for office or call center use, Shokz’s OpenMeet headset uses the company’s bone conduction technology for clear audio that does not block the ears.
I tested the headset during the annual PepCom Digital Experience at CES. They are open-ear design that allows a user to hear music and calls without covering the ears (although you could if you wanted). You can also have a conversation without having to take the headset off or even stop the music.
The idea is to not damage hearing from wearing headphones for an extend period during work while at the same time providing similar, if not better, sound quality than typical office or call center headsets.
2) LuxCare Mini washer-dryer
Hisense Visual Technology Co. Ltd unveiled an all-in-one washer/dryer unit that is small enough to be placed in a small cabinet or even in a bathroom but is smart enough to clean most garments. A full wash and dry cycle can be completed in 78 minutes.
3) PLANCK
PLANCK is what ShiftCam claims is the world’s smallest portable solid-state drive (SSD) that comes in the form of a USB-C stick that plugs into smartphones.
The SSD weighs just 10 grams and offers speed transfers of 1,050 MB/s. It can store either 1 terabyte or 2 TB in storage, allowing content creators or photographers to record large videos on their smartphones easier.
I tested the device at PepCom and it easily plugs into a phone and stays in place so you can put it in your pocket or elsewhere without it slipping out. Users can also write on the PLANCK to identify what they are recording.
4) HAGAMOSphere
DIC Corporation’s HAGAMOSphere is a drone with eight propellers mounted on a cubic frame.
This allows the unmanned aerial system (UAS) to move both horizontally and vertically in the air while maintaining balance. The goal is to allow the device to perform in a variety of environments while remaining safe from the elements.
5) Hearpiece
These earbuds are designed not necessarily as a hearing aid but more of a hearing amplifier when users are in noisy environments such as a restaurant, a sporting event or tradeshow.
Those with hearing issues but not necessarily needing a hearing aid may struggle to hear personal conversations in these types of environments. These headphones amplify the speech of the person they are talking with while turning down the volume around them.
I also tested these earbuds during PepCom and it really changes how well you can hear in loud environments. It amplifies conversations, allowing users to maintain distance as the noise around them is drowned out and the person who is talking is enhanced significantly. The earbuds also have noise cancellation and can play music just like other earbuds, making it even more useful.
6) inReach Messenger Plus
This tiny little GPS was a CES 2025 Best of Innovation winner in the Mobile Devices category. The device is Garmin’s first satellite communicator that allows for:
- Photo and voice messaging
- Two-way texting
- Location sharing
- SOS capabilities
It is designed to be used by those who go beyond cell reach and into remote areas where they cannot access traditional communications. This could be used on land, air or sea, Garmin said.
7) Ultra-short Throw Laser Projector K300
Yaber’s Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector K300s allows users to project a 100-inch image from about 10-inches away to deliver cinema-level quality in a portable format. The projector includes triple RGB laser technology featuring colors with more than a 150% NTSC wide color gamut. It has a maximum brightness of 1,000 ANSI lumens and a native 1,080 p resolution.
8) Disaster response rapid deployment modular chamber
E-Soltec debuted its prototype cube-shaped chamber that operates independently without a power source.
The unit can be assembled in just three days and serve as an emergency shelter during disasters, turned into a medical facility for disease outbreaks or serve as a medical building in rural or underserved areas. The technology includes a digital twin for real-time monitoring and control of air flow.
The prototype was nominated for a CES 2025 Innovation Award in the “Human Security for All” category.
9) AirFarm
The AirFarm from Midbar is an inflatable greenhouse that can be erected in a matter of hours to allow users to begin planting quickly in a variety of environments. Mostly targeted at underserved communities or places that cannot grow food organically due to the weather, the AirFarm comes in either 10-ft or 20-ft building sizes.
At CES, MidBar had a full unit on display, complete with vegetables growing inside for all to see.
10) Indoor gardening
Hisense's indoor gardening lamp is another type of device suited for smaller scale growing, such as in an apartment building or shared housing. Hisense's gardening lamp includes more growing space compared to previous indoor gardening devices that Hisense has in its portfolio. This will allow users to grow a wider variety of plants and more complicated plants, the company said. The LED growing lights provide an environment for a range of different greens such as:
- Herbs
- Flowers
- Fruits
- Leafy greens
