PPG to exhibit at The Battery Show North America with advanced coatings, electric vehicle solutions

01 October 2024

PPG will showcase its portfolio of functional coatings, adhesives and sealants designed to address the evolving challenges within the electric vehicle (EV) market at the Battery Show North America, taking place Oct. 8-10 at the Huntington Place convention center in Detroit, Michigan.

Visitors to PPG’s stand (#5415) will discover how the company’s advanced solutions enhance safety, mitigate the risk of thermal runaway and optimize manufacturing efficiency through automated application techniques. PPG will highlight its innovative PPG CORACHAR™ fire retardant coating, which offers robust protection when used in combination with PPG’s electrocoat technology by providing enhanced thermal barrier properties critical for EV battery safety.

PPG will also spotlight its dielectric UV materials, such as PPG RAYCRON® dielectric UV coating, which provides excellent insulation and protection against electrical failures. It will also highlight the synergistic benefits of combining dielectric powder coatings and thermally conductive adhesive materials, which ensures robust and reliable performance in high-voltage environments.

“PPG’s coatings, adhesives, and sealants play a significant role in the production of battery cells, modules, and packs,” said Bill Hedberg, PPG head of strategic marketing, Automotive OEM Coatings. “Our team is excited to exhibit at The Battery Show North America to showcase our sustainably advantaged automotive solutions that have been developed through more than 140 years of leadership in the coatings industry.”

PPG’s global manufacturing footprint and collaborative efforts with OEMs and Tier suppliers enable the company to address critical challenges in EV battery pack design and production, ensuring optimal performance and safety. In addition, the company’s PPG Coating Services business identifies and customizes coatings solutions to specific application requirements and partners with customers to ensure successful, high-volume application and exceptional product consistency and quality.
