Video: Pivotal’s single-seat eVTOL demonstrated at CES 2024

22 January 2024

Electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vendor Pivotal demonstrated its Helix personal all-electric aircraft at CES 2024.

The aircraft’s starting price is $190,000 in the U.S. and users control the eVTOL with joystick controls that are guided by a user interface. The single seat aircraft can be assembled from the storage to the sky in about 30 minutes. It can be disassembled into a 16-foot trailer in about the same amount of time, Pivotal said.

The aircraft does not require a pilot license; however, training is required. Because the Helix complies with FAA’s Part 103 category, it cannot fly over non-congested areas only and away from airports. Users must complete a comprehensive initial and periodic recurrent flight training for safe operations of the aircraft.

While the aircraft begins at a $190,000 price point, it can soar up to $260,000 with the biggest package that includes:

  • Customized exterior
  • One additional training slot
  • Integrated emergency locator transmitter
  • Three chargers
  • Beacon aircraft lighting
  • Premium flight deck
