KRYTAR announces four new Butler matrix models with broadband coverage from 0.5 GHz to 8.0 GHz

02 March 2023

KRYTAR, Inc., a developer of ultra-broadband microwave components and test equipment, has unveiled four new Butler Matrix models with broadband frequency coverage from 0.5 GHz to 8.0 GHz. A Butler Matrix is a beamforming network used to feed a phased array of antenna elements. Its purpose is to control the direction of a beam, or beams, of radio transmission. KRYTAR’s long history of excellence in the design of broadband microwave components affords the ability to produce unique passive beamforming network solutions for the communications market.

The four new Butler Matrix models add to the list of beamforming products using KRYTAR’s high-performance 90° and 180° hybrid couplers providing super phase accuracy, amplitude imbalance, stability and repeatability. Offering coverage of multiple microwave bands from 0.5 GHz to 8.0 GHz, a

Model KBM9005010 covers the frequency range from 0.5 GHz to 1.0 GHz and provides ±0.4 dB of maximum amplitude imbalance and maximum phase imbalance of ±3°. This Butler Matrix exhibits insertion loss of 8 dB with maximum input and output voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 1.3:1 dB and isolation of 16 dB. This Butler Matrix is a compact package measuring just 11.95 inches (L) x 4.80 inches (W) x 1.35 inches (H) and comes with subminiature version A (SMA) female coaxial connectors.

Model KBM9005070 covers the frequency range from 0.5 GHz to 7.0 GHz and provides ±1.0 dB of maximum amplitude imbalance and maximum phase imbalance of ±12°. This Butler Matrix exhibits insertion loss of 11 dB with maximum input and output VSWR of 1.5:1 dB and isolation of 14 dB. The compact package measures just 11.95 inches (L) x 4.80 inches (W) x 1.35 inches (H) and comes with SMA female coaxial connectors.

Model KBM9020060 covers the frequency range from 2.0 GHz to 6.0 GHz and provides ±1.0 dB of maximum amplitude imbalance and maximum phase imbalance of ±8°. This model exhibits insertion loss of 7.5 dB with maximum input and output VSWR of 1.4:1 dB and isolation of 14 dB. This Butler Matrix is a compact package measuring just 4.75 inches (L) x 3.46 inches (W) x 01.11 inches (H) and comes with SMA female coaxial connectors.

Model KBM9020080 covers the frequency range from 2.0 GHz to 8.0 GHz and provides ±0.8 dB of maximum amplitude imbalance and maximum phase imbalance of ±10°. This model exhibits insertion loss of 8.5 dB with maximum input and output VSWR of 1.5:1 dB and isolation of 14 dB. This Butler Matrix is a compact package measuring just 4.75 inches (L) x 3.46 inches (W) x 1.11 inches (H) and comes with SMA female coaxial connectors.
