Video: A tour of Samsung’s manufacturing centers

01 September 2021

Samsung Electronics is one of the largest semiconductor companies in the world with its own manufacturing facilities globally. The company is also one of the leaders in foundry services catering to other semiconductor companies that can’t build their own chips.

Samsung recently released a video of a tour of five of Samsung’s manufacturing facilities in Korea captured via drone to give a bird’s eye view of the campuses.

The facilities shown on the tour include:

  • Hwaseong campus — an R&D and chip manufacturing facility.
  • Giheung campus — a semiconductor innovation facility.
  • Pyeongtaek campus — one of the largest chip manufacturing facilities in the world.
  • Onyang campus — a final stage chip facility.
  • Cheonan campus — a semiconductor facility with next-generation packaging technology.

In the video, the facilities are shown from overhead and gives a bit of information about each facility. But most interesting is the massive facilities and the various buildings that accompany them. The sheer magnitude of these fabs is something that is not often seen but heard.
