LG Electronics has launched its 5G smartphone for the U.S. market powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G mobile platform.
The LG Velvet 5G will be available first at AT&T and then later in the summer it will be rolled out to T-Mobile and Verizon. Verizon will offer the smartphone on its millimeter wave (mmWave) initially and will then port the phone to its 5G low-band network.
The smartphone is priced at $599, which is a lower price point than most 5G smartphones, which typically run north of $1,000 so far.
The LG smartphone includes the Snapdragon 765G 5G processor, the first time an LG smartphone will incorporate the latest application processor and 5G modem from Qualcomm.
Other features of the phone include a 6.8 in 20.5:9 full high definition plus (FHD+) organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display, 6 GB of random-access memory (RAM), three rear cameras, one 16 megapixel front camera, an in-display fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and it uses the Android 10 operating system.
