Tomorrow's electric vehicle, today with Siemens' digital twin technology

18 June 2020

In partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software, Uniti Sweden is transforming from a crowd-funding startup to a pioneer in electric vehicles. The key to Uniti's fast and successful design and manufacturing processes had a lot to do with Uniti adopting the digital twin from day one. The working digital twin, based on Siemens NX and Siemens Simcenter, enabled a small team of engineers to prototype three vehicles in four short months. The design team was also empowered to approach vehicle production with a keen focus on light-weighting, innovation and the use of advanced materials.

A giant leap to save the planet

The data revolution driving Industry 4.0 doesn't stop with the digital twins on the factory floor; the entire digital Uniti backend can be connected to the energy grid, the road infrastructure, buildings and urban environments. In doing so, Uniti is able to connect to data created by humans on a global scale. Further, as a completely wired EV, Uniti is designed for a new era in high-tech car ownership which includes car-sharing, subscription programs and possibly delivery-on-the-spot autonomous programs.
