Hyundai begins research into roof airbags

27 March 2020

Hyundai Mobis has started work on new safety devices including a roof airbag that it plans to push to the global automotive market.

The roof airbag would be deployed under the surface side of the vehicle in case of a rollover accident, covering the entire roof in just 0.08 seconds, protecting and preventing passengers from being ejected from sunroofs.

While Hyundai Mobis has been developing airbag technologies since 2002, the company has started developing convergence technologies for safety devices at full scale, including the roof airbags.
