APEC 2019: Pacific Power Source introduces new AFX power sources; PPST Solutions supports multiple manufacturers

25 February 2019
The new "A" version of Pacific Power Source's AFX Series is billed as 'more power, less space.' Source: PPST Solutions.

At APEC 2019, the power electronics conference and exposition that runs March 17 to 21 in Anaheim, California, Pacific Power Source will feature a newly enhanced A version of its AFX-series programmable AC, DC and AC and DC power source family. The new version expands voltage and frequency output ranges, along with adding several new programmable features and functions. These include both analog and digital I/O functions that raise the series’ level of ATE and test integration applications capabilities.

The A version extends output voltage range to 333 V AC line-to-neutral, or 576 V AC line-to-line in three-phase output mode, allowing high-line testing for 480 V three-phase product up to 120% of nominal grid voltage. A new transformer output option also supports higher output voltages. Other enhancements include an extended programmable frequency range from as low as 1 Hz and as high as 3,000 Hz. The series is available in power output ratings from 6 kVA up to 150 kVA; models up to 15 kVA require only 4U or 7 in of rack space. According to the manufacturer, this makes the series the highest power density programmable AC and DC source currently on the market.

Complete info on the AFX Series can be found on the website for PPST Solutions, a new sales, service and support organization launched by Pacific Power Source parent company PPST Inc. With a name reflective of its focus on programmable power system test solutions, PPST Solutions consolidates sales and service resources from several manufacturers. It provides support to the following brands and product lines:

  • Adaptive Power Systems: frequency changers, AC and DC power sources, DC power supplies, electronic AC and DC loads
  • Cinergia: regenerative AC grid simulators, regenerative AC and DC loads and battery test systems
  • Pacific Power Source: precision AC and DC power sources
  • STS Instruments: battery testers
  • Zenone: programmable AC and DC current sources

Adaptive Power Systems will also feature its full line of AC and DC loads, AC frequency changers and programmable AC and DC power sources for development and test of high-power electric drive trains and automotive electrical subsystems at APEC 2019.

The geographic focus of PPST Solutions is North and South America; product service and calibration is centralized in the company’s main high-power test facility in Irvine, California. A newly created, comprehensive power product catalog is now available for customer download.
