Two New Shutter Image Sensors Bring Clarity for Crop Monitoring Drones

24 September 2018

For designs that need high resolution with the option for full-color imaging, OmniVision offers the 2-megapixel OG02B1B (monochrome) and the OG02B10 (color) image sensors. Both provide 1600 x 1300 resolution in a 1/2.9-inch optical format and a 15-degree chief ray angle to support wide field-of-view lens designs. (Source: OmniVision)OmniVision Technologies Inc. announced two new high-resolution additions to its family of global shutter image sensors: the OG02B1B/OG02B10 and the OV9285.

These new sensors are designed to be cost-effective solutions for a range of consumer and industrial machine vision applications. OEM developing products for high-growth markets, like AR/VR headsets and accessories, industrial automation, robotics, agricultural drones, 3D modeling and more could benefit from these global shutter image sensors that can capture precise images of fast-moving or faraway objects while consuming little power.

OmniVision offers the 2 MP OG02B1B (monochrome) and the OG02B10 (color) image sensors. Both versions provide 1,600 x 1,300 resolution in a 1/2.9 in optical format and a 15° chief ray angle (CRA) to support wide field-of-view lens designs. This combination of color imaging and CRA is good for applications like agricultural drones that must capture high-resolution color images for crop and field monitoring.

Both sensors are built on OmniVision’s 3 x 3 micron OmniPixel 3-GS pixel technology. This global shutter sensor technology eliminates motion artifacts and blurring. It also provides high quantum efficiency and excellent near-infrared (NIR) sensitivity at 850 nm and 940 nm, which reduces power consumption and extends device battery life.

The OG02B1B, OG02B10 and OV9285 image sensors are available now on the OmniVision site.
