"The holy grail of battery juice" is how Munich, Germany-based startup YOOLOX refers to their eponymous wireless charging bank for smartphones, which is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

The device comes in two flavors, 10k and 16k, names which respectively represent the number of milliamp hours available (that's the juice). The 10k is juicy enough to charge an iPhone X or Samsung Galaxy S9 up to three times; the 16k, up to five times. Its charge-through/pass-through feature allows simultaneous charging of both a phone and the power bank itself, which also can be used to charge wired devices such as tablets and Bluetooth headphones.

But perhaps the most innovative feature is its wireless interface: Users simply place a phone on the device to start charging, and specially-developed, soft silicon suction pads will hold it in place to keep it from disconnecting.

The YOOLOX supports:

  • Qi wireless charging standard
  • Power Delivery 3.0, which increases iPhone charging speed up to 2x
  • Quick Charge 3.0 certified chip, which increases Android phone charging speed up to 4x

For more information, including the ability to back the project and access early-bird pricing (currently €39 for the 10k, €59 for the 16k), visit the YOOLOX Kickstarter page.
