ON Semiconductor received CES 2017 Innovation Award honoree accolades by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) for its Ezairo 7150 SL audio processing hybrid module and Smart Passive Sensor (SPS).
The Ezairo device is an open-programmable digital signal processing (DSP)-based hybrid that enables wireless connectivity in hearing aids and cochlear implants, in order to provide hearing aid manufacturers the ability to incorporate advanced features into next-generation hearing aids without compromising on size. The device integrates an audio DSP, EEPROM memory and radio IC into a single miniature package. It also includes a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection.
Meanwhile the SPS1M and SPS2T SPS are applied to the Internet of Things (IoT) by dispensing the need to have a microcontroller or battery at each sensing node. This results in a number of power, cost and space benefits. The devices work to autonomously sense key parameters, such as temperature, moisture, pressure and proximity. The devices deliver battery-free wireless networking without requiring periodic maintenance, which reduces operational costs.
