Teardown: SES G-Tag 6

The following is an overview of a teardown analysis conducted by IHS Technology Teardown Services.

The Store Electronics Systems (SES) G-Tag 6 is a shelf-edge pricing display that, like other products in the space, allows retailers to change pricing dynamically in response to competitors’ or suppliers’ price changes. The unit connects with store systems via a RFX4 very low frequency (VLF) radio receiver. VLF signals are not attenuated or obstructed by store infrastructure, thus allowing rearrangement of shelving units without sacrificing connectivity. SES claims a five-year service lifetime for the G-Tag 6, which is powered by a single lithium coin type 3 V, 600 mAh primary (non-rechargeable) battery.
