Sik Kwong Lui has been named vice president of silicon technology and head of technology development at Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Ltd. (AOS) following the resignation of Chief Technology Officer Hamza Yilmaz, AOS reports.

Lui, who co-founded AOS in 2000, served as the company’s vice president of device technology and engineering from 2001 to 2007 and has been a company Fellow since 2008. Lui is credited with helping to develop the foundation of AOS' proprietary technologies in the early years of the company's history.

Mike F. Chang, AOS chairman and CEO, says through a statement that the company expresses deep appreciation for Yilmaz’s efforts in AOS’ business and technology development.

"We are excited that Dr. Lui has agreed to play a key role in continuing our strategies to accelerate our development of next-generation power management solutions," Chang says.

Lui, who holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, has 81 patents to his credit.
