Outsourced Manufacturing Industry Update: Jabil to acquire Nypro to further diversify revenues

On February 4, 2013 Jabil announced it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Clinton, MA-based Nypro for $665 million in cash. Nypro is a $1.2 billion maker of precision plastics for the healthcare, packaging and consumer electronics industry. Jabil will pay for the deal with cash on hand as well as available credit on its nearly unused $1.3 billion credit line. The deal is expected to close by the end of Jabil's fiscal Q3 2013, which ends in May 2013. In addition, the deal is expected to add to Jabil's earnings starting in Fiscal year 2014, which begins on September 1, 2013.
