New Generation of Microcontrollers for the Emerging Automotive Market

06 December 2017

NXP Semiconductors has introduced its next generation of microcontrollers with integrated high-voltage analog solutions for electric motor control applications.

The S32M series expands the scalability of the previously announced MCU family while offering similar features, including a suite of automotive grade tools and software to minimize development time and accelerate time to market, NXP says.

The S32M series features an advanced hardware security module, CAN-FD, larger flash memory and support for ASIL-B safety. Also included is an ARM Cortex M4F core, including a DSP and floating point unit. The microcontrollers also include MOSFET gate driver unit and a dedicated digital control loop (DCL) that NXP says achieves up to four times the performance of existing solutions.

The S32M is currently sampling.
